Equestrian at Lucton School2022-12-29

The three essences of British education are boarding, sports, and holistic education. Among them, equestrian is a significant part of elite education. In the UK, those who can ride horses might not necessarily be aristocrats, but aristocrats can definitely ride horses.

Lucton School UK has built a 14-acre equestrian centre of Olympic level, and students can even look after their own ponies in the school. In recent years, students of Lucton School have also won numerous team and individual prizes in the National Schools Equestrian Association competitions and international competitions.

Through sports, students can develop their character and personality. Besides, we can also teach students how to appreciate failure and create success with sports. Lucton School Chongqing inherits the British elite sports and joins hands with Zoyet Club to provide equestrian for students as an important co-curricular curriculum.

Zoyet Club Chongqing is a professional training centre for promoting equestrian among youth, and is the only equestrian club in Chongqing with FN teaching system certification. Covering an area of 70,000 square meters, surrounded by golf courses, adjacent to Jialing River and Emerald Lake, it has indoor and outdoor venues for international equestrian competitions, a team of intermediate and senior certified coaches in China, as well as imported horses for teaching.

Before the lesson, coaches will help the students to put on professional protection, helmets armour etc. and present properly. The professional riding outfit represents the spirit of chivalry and a sense of ritual in equestrian.

Equestrian learning is never a one-man battle. The learner and the horse are close partners in the process of getting along. Students walk into the stable and are guided by the coaches to check the horses up close, learn about their habits, feed them, get to know them and bond with them. At the end of the lesson, the horses are taken back to their stables, where they are brushed, cleaned and tidied up, which helps to develop skills and experience, as well as friendship.

Once familiar with the horses, training begins with one student per horse and one coach, ensuring that students of all levels can enjoy their riding lessons. During the training, students learn saddle preparation, mounting and dismounting techniques, and correct riding posture. Correct riding posture not only ensures a stable and safe handling of the horse, but also contributes to the rider's strong body shape.

In the process of learning equestrian, students develop a strong body, a tenacious will, the ability to strengthen judgment and overcome fear. The sense of loss is experienced during the process. However, it is also the constant frustration, the constant challenge, and the constant attempts to improve, that contribute to the growth and gradual strength of each rider and allow the students to truly appreciate the spirit of chivalry. This is also one of the reasons for the calm and confident spirit that every Luctonian possesses.

The fruits of success come from the constant learning of being precise and resilient, and all of this is built up bit by bit during equestrian practices. Students at Lucton School gain a spirit of hard work and challenge that extends throughout their academic careers and benefits them for life.
