The highlight of the 300th anniversary celebrations in 2008 was the visit of Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, on 25th June. The Queen's son arrived at Lucton by helicopter and named the new heated swimming indoor pool 'Wessex Pool'.
Prince Edward was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Sir Thomas Dunne and Lady Dunne as well as senior representatives of the Vintners (wine merchants) Company. As John Pierrepont, Lucton's founder, was a vintner, this was an appropriate way of celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of Lucton.
