CCA, Co-Curricular Activities, are an important part of Lucton School Chongqing's curriculum. From Handicrafts to Swimming, Football to Vocal Club......There are up to 17 subjects. All of the teachers choose their own specialism or area of interest, which allows the students to get more out of this relaxing time, with each course being an exploration of interests and potential. Today, let's take a look at how students begin their own adventure in this diverse academic environment.
Handicrafts CCA encourages students to release stress through a creative outlet. Glass painting to create a lamp, moulding a mirror frame, hand tufting a coaster, Christmas themed pipe-cleaner Christmas trees and pom-pom Chinese New Year lanterns...... Year 9 to 12 students tried and tested a variety of different crafts this term. Students have been able to learn patience, co-ordination, creativity and work with different materials. The atmosphere in the CCA is collaborative, supportive and fun whilst being able to take home a beautiful product at the end.
Skateboarding CCA has become a resounding hit, capturing the imagination and enthusiasm of students. This programme not only cultivated students' interests in skateboarding culture and athleticism but also integrated fun with essential life skills. Students delved into mastering fundamental techniques such as pushing, turning, and basic tricks while enhancing their balance, coordination and agility. Through shared experiences and peer support, it promotes mental resilience, self-confidence and teamwork skills. In an environment that encourages exploration and perseverance, students not only learn skateboarding skills, but also build lifelong friendships and achieve personal growth.
Programming and Design CCA mainly uses the arduino uno development board to introduce buzzer, led, switch, infrared sensor, ultrasonic sensor, temperature and humidity sensor and other input and output devices. Combined with case studies, it enhanced students' ability to design and produce intelligent products from the aspects of creative inspiration and programme design, and allowed students to exert their subjective initiative, stimulate their sense of innovation and enhance their hands-on ability in project practice.
CCA at Lucton School Chongqing is more than just about knowledge delivery, it is a platform to help students achieve holistic development. Through a wide range of CCA subjects, students not only develop and strengthen their personal qualities and abilities, but also gain friendship, self-confidence and aspirations for the future.
