To help students gain admission to the world's prestigious universities, Lucton School Chongqing offers a core curriculum and co-curricular activities, as well as comprehensive university guidance services. The University Guidance Office is dedicated to providing students with support and guidance on university applications. A professional team guide and assist students in making the right decisions during the whole application process, as well as help students to make visa and pre-departure preparations.

When students enter Lucton School Chongqing, our professional team will collect and organise their personal information, relevant insights and other necessary information, and create student profiles to track their development. For Year 9 students, we focus on career guidance. Throughout the education process, we will gradually integrate information to stimulate interest in future directions. We will use a variety of methods such as presentations, discussions, debates and research to help students gain a comprehensive understanding of different types of jobs. This will prepare students to set career goals for the future.

From the start of Year 10, the IGCSE stage, students will begin a comprehensive exploration of different countries' cultures, universities, specialisms and other information relevant to their applications. This will also include annual information or policy updates. At this stage, students will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of various cultures through the curriculum. They may learn about the traditions, customs, language, art and history of different countries. This cultural understanding can help them develop a global perspective and appreciation for diversity.

In Year 11, students will undertake an independent search test, which is followed by individual interviews with university and careers advisers to help students consider their next steps. Students are encouraged to think about their university plans and what A-Level or other qualifications are needed to progress further. Students are also encouraged to complete other projects where personal enhancement can be achieved, such as work experience and summer school courses in a variety of subjects, including Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). Before the end of the academic year, students will also undertake a career assessment to finalise their future university specialisms in a variety of ways as well as their own perceptions.

A full programme of university lectures and UCAS counselling is arranged for Year 12 A-Level students. A good soft background is important to support university applications and career decisions, and students will enter the final push in this year. Whether it's competitions, independent research projects, or any other type of background, it should be finalised during this year. As college/university application deadlines approach, students will make final school selection decisions based on relevant career, course, and personal circumstances, and will be guided in the necessary paperwork.

In Year 13, once students have received their university offers, we will first help them choose the most suitable university and confirm acceptance. We will then begin preparing for visa-related matters and assist parents and students in collecting the necessary documentation. We will tailor the programme to suit the specific visa processes of different countries and help students prepare for their visa interviews by providing guidance on answering interview questions.

The philosophy of the University Guidance Office of Lucton School Chongqing is that every student should not only be admitted to the university of their choice, but also be able to think independently and have the ability to plan for themselves before they leave the campus. University is just a starting point for a new phase of their life, but they need to focus on the long term and the future.
