Lucton Summer Camp to the UK!2023-03-17

There is an old saying, reading a thousand books is to travel a thousand miles. Students can gain practical experience which cannot be obtained by reading books when learning on the site. Since the announcement of the liberalisation of national borders, students who experienced online classes for three years have been eager to travel abroad and start exploring the world.



In this summer vacation, Lucton Summer Camp to the UK will be organised by Lucton School Chongqing. During this camp, students will not only visit top universities such as University of Oxford to experience the classroom atmosphere of higher education in the UK, but will also be able to communicate with seniors and get advice about studying and living abroad.

Students will visit top universities including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, LSE, UCL and etc. Besides, students can attend courses at University of Cambridge, the University of Warwick, and University of York to experience the real university classroom atmosphere, which will build a solid foundation for their future choice of universities.

Experience UK Life



Shakespeare′s Birthplace
Shakespeare was born in 1564 and spent his youth in Stratford. After making a name for himself in London, he returned here in his twilight years. Between Shakespeare's death and the early 20th century, the number of visitors increased, including poets such as Keats, writers such as Dickens and Mark Twain. Although the town has been altered over the years, it has been completely reconstructed as it was in Shakespeare's time. The Shakespeare Centre displays this great playwright's works, related materials and stage costumes.



The Lake District
The Lake District National Park is located in the Cumbria in the North West of England and has been established for over 50 years. It was the first sightseeing spot to be selected as a Green Globe Destination. It is also one of National Geographic’s ‘50 Places to Visit in a Lifetime'. The Lake District is a traditional agricultural and pastoral area, which has been exploited by humans for more than 10,000 years. It is famous because, despite its long history of development and proximity to many large industrialised cities, the Lake District has remained serene which inspired many famous English poets, writers and painters. The Lake District covers an area of approximately 2,250 square kilometres and is the largest national park in England and Wale. There are 16 lakes of varying sizes, the most famous being Windermere, which is the largest lake in England with a narrow surface of 17 km long and 2 km wide at its widest point, making it a great place to go boating.



Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle is one of the most prestigious castles in Europe and is the symbol and the highest point of the city. Celebrating every New Year's Eve, visitors from all over the world are welcomed with a spectacular firework show from the castle's Montgomery Cannons.
The Royal Mile is located at the foot of the castle, heading east. It is the soul of Edinburgh's history and culture, and also an unmissable place for purchasing Scottish souvenirs such as authentic Scottish biscuits, whisky or a special tartan scarf. The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the King's administrative residence in Scotland, is located at the other end of the avenue, while the opposite side is the Scottish Parliament building, the highest authority in Scotland.
Princes Street is parallel to the Royal Mile, where you can climb Calton Hill at the end of the street and look down on Edinburgh, with the heavenly sound of bagpipes. You can also go to the Elephant Café, where J.K. Rowling wrote the first book of Harry Potter series, for an elegant English afternoon tea.



York
York combines outstanding architecture and 2,000 years of history with a thriving shopping street, and it is difficult to appreciate the unique charm that distinguishes York from other cities in the UK without visiting it. York Cathedral is the best-preserved of the surviving medieval churches and has a high religious status as the archbishop's cathedral of the Northern Diocese of England. York’s ancient walls which were built and rebuilt during several centuries are the best preserved and longest in England. Butcher's Row is the model for Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, with its narrow streets and unique medieval house structures.



University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge is a world-renowned public research university and is one of the G5 super-elite universities. The University of Cambridge is the second oldest university in the English-speaking countries, originally founded as a community of scholars in 1209. On a boat trip along the River Cam, sailors will recount the legends of the University's colleges and students can appreciate Xu Zhimo's poem 'Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again'.



The British Museum
The British Museum is located in Russell Square in London. Founded in 1753 and officially opened to the public from 15 January 1759, it is the oldest and grandest comprehensive museum around the world and one of the world's four largest and most famous museums. The museum's collection of artefacts and treasures and the manuscripts of many great scientists is as rich and diverse as any museum in the world.
