2023 Lucton School Chongqing Field Trip Activity2023-09-06
For returning students and newcomers to the Lucton community, the start of a new academic year means a new life and new challenges. In order to help the students get closer to each other and adapt to the new life on campus, tutors and boarding staff led the students on a three-day field trip activity. The students explored nature to learn the basic knowledge of geological science and enhance team spirit, and at the same time enhance their safety awareness and self-protection ability through outdoor activities.

Arriving at Destination

Located at the mysterious 30 degrees north latitude, the Shierbeihou Tourism Area is a classic integration of karst landforms, bringing together a complete ecological combination of caves, forests, mountains, and water, which is just like a living textbook of karst geography and biology in real life.
Cave Exploration

Students hiked through Shuanghe Valley, which is part of the Shuanghe Cave, the longest cave in Asia, to explore mysteries. With the explanation of the instructor, students learnt about the formation conditions of caves, the principle of water erosion and the morphology and distribution of karst landforms and other related knowledge. Through the natural phenomenon of "water dripping through stone" in the cave, students learnt the truth of perseverance and persistence.
Cave surveying is a complex work procedure. Students took on the role of cave experts with professional surveying instruments and props and explored through theoretical lectures, operational demonstrations and technical guidance.
Via Ferrata Adventure
With Via Ferrata, students started their adventure to Galaxy Cave. After training by professional coaches, they put on outdoor adventure equipment, went exploring and passed through 3 levels of shafts. Overcoming the fear of climbing along the rock wall not only tests physical strength, but also requires the ability to balance. Therefore, Students need to overcome both physical and mental challenges and break through!
Stand-up Paddling Experience

After recognising the equipment, learning and mastering the knowledge, skills, and safety rules, students then started to practice. From being cautious at the beginning to standing up later, students' concentration and sense of balance improved.
Romantic Bonfire Night

As the night fell, the bonfire party began. The blazing fire ignited the enthusiasm of students and teachers, who danced around the bonfire hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. At this moment, the company of peers narrowed the distance between each other and made the whole bonfire party more meaningful.
River Tracing

After taking the Qingxi Gorge ferry, the students arrived and started river tracing. They travelled through the valley, trekking up the stream and exploring nature. The students were able to build up friendship between themselves and help each other when they encountered difficulties.
The best education is accompaniment, teachers and students of Lucton School Chongqing witnessed a journey of growth together. Along the way, students have thought, learnt, travelled, and gained a lot. Students not only gained knowledge, opened up their horizons, but also enhanced their motivation. It is believed that this activity will become a precious memory of students in their growing years.
