On 28th September, the 2nd International Food Festival, IFF, was successfully held at Lucton School Chongqing, bringing a feast of international food culture to all teachers, students, parents and friends. The classic speciality food attracted many people to taste the food and talk about the food culture.
Each country's cuisine is a concentration of local food customs and cultural characteristics. This IFF featured 9 countries' representative dishes, including not only the local specialities of Chongqing prepared by the school Canteen and parents, but also the specialities of 2 countries randomly selected by the 4 houses of Lucton School Chongqing. The results were: Lion representing the USA and Korea, Fox representing Malaysia and Mexico, Star representing India and Japan, and Knight representing Italy and Thailand.
One week before IFF, students selected the dishes according to their interests, compiled a list of ingredients needed, and went to the supermarket the day before IFF to make purchases. They had clear objectives and completed the purchases within the limited time.
In the afternoon, all the teachers and students came to the Canteen to prepare the dishes. They cooperated with each other, with some responsible for washing ingredients, some responsible for cutting the ingredients, some responsible for cooking, and some responsible for loading the dishes. Dishes such as spaghetti with tomato meat sauce, Korean fried chicken, Japanese-style Oden, Indian curry chicken, etc. were cooked by students.
“This Indian speciality snack is called Pakoda and is very tasty, try it” “The beef patty in the middle of the Cheese burger will burst juice when you bite” “Thai seafood fried rice has a lot of seafood!” ...... In front of the stalls, consumers were full of praise for the dishes. While savouring the food, teachers, students, and parents also chatted freely.
Towards the end, IFF climaxed with the students' performances: Zoey Y played a youthful and personalised rock music with her electric guitar; Satya S's “All Is Found” took the audience to the dreamy world of ice and snow; Leo L and Cindy J sang “The Same Moonlight” with warm and firm voices.
Congratulations! Leo L was the winner of the Best Costume Award and the Superstar Award for his excellent performance at the IFF. Sylva H and George C also won the Outstanding Leadership Award.
Students from Star House won the Best Decoration and Best Teamwork awards for their unity; Lion House won the Best Dish Award for their delicious hamburgers; and Knight House won the Superheroes Award. Wish all the participating students rewarding experience!
The IFF at Lucton School Chongqing opens a window to explore the world and builds a bridge to communicate multiculturalism, allowing students to broaden international horizons, experience cultural differences in reality, and learn to appreciate and respect. We are looking forward to the next IFF, where we will have a good time again.
