The holistic education is what Lucton School Chongqing has always been committed to. As the Deputy Head - Academic of Lucton School Chongqing, Ms. Elaine Shi will give us an insight into Lucton School Chongqing's unique teaching philosophy and the miracles it creates between teaching and learning.

Located in Chongqing Tieshanping National Forest Park, Lucton School Chongqing combines high-quality educational resources with an ideal environment for schooling. Teachers and students begin their day of teaching and learning in a quiet campus where there is no disturbance.

Lucton School Chongqing's international curriculum is rooted from Lucton School UK and Lucton School Shanghai. It is divided into three main stages, Pre-IGCSE, IGCSE and A-Level, with compulsory and elective subjects at each stage. Chinese and English are compulsory at all stages. Language learning is the foundation for all other subjects and “Chinese Heart” is part of our philosophy. Global Perspectives, Public Speaking and English Reading are compulsory at Pre-IGCSE and IGCSE levels. These subjects will help students broaden their horizons, become more confident and proactive, and develop a habit of reading consistently. Based on their interests, university majors and the advice of University Guidance Counsellors, students can choose four elective subjects. Depending on the subjects chosen, IGCSE and A-Level students take international examinations organised by Oxford AQA, Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge Assessment and Public Speaking tests organised by LAMDA.

Non-graded System and Stratified Teaching
Students attend classes in different subject classrooms, such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, while ICT, Computer Science, Art & Design and Vocal classes are taught in separate classrooms. English classes are stratified according to the results of the English Test, Aptis for Teens, while other subjects such as Mathematics, Chinese and Chemistry are stratified according to student learning situation and teachers' evaluation to maximise teaching and learning efficiency.

An Immersive English Environment
Lucton School Chongqing's Academic Department has an average of over 10 years of teaching experience and creates an immersive English environment with students. In addition to the two international teachers, the English Department also has four Chinese English teachers, who help students at different levels, provide bilingual support, strengthen students' English foundation, and provide students with the most suitable learning plan.

Mentorship Programme
Mentors are not only able to tutor students during lessons but also provide academic support during Prep. During Prep, they answer questions from students and provide extra tutoring for students of different year groups based on feedback from the teachers. This programme is beneficial for drop-in students and those who need improvement in their studies.
