The 29th World Book Day was on 23rd April, and a strong atmosphere of reading filled the campus of Lucton School Chongqing. This week, the whole school celebrated the festival with a variety of activities.
During the assembly on Monday, the whole campus seemed to be transformed into a huge world of books. Teachers and students dressed up in various costumes as characters from their favourite books.
Some teachers and students performed on stage and read their favourite paragraphs from the books such as David Copperfield, The Hobbit, The Invisible Man, The Three-body Problem, etc.
In English Reading class, students created top trump cards featuring their favourite book characters. They drew a portrait of their favourite book character with an introduction and four characteristics of this character. This was not only a reflection on reading, but also a demonstration of imagination and creativity, showing us their unique understanding of the book.
In English and Art & Design classes, students participated in the bookmark designing activity, using their imagination to create a variety of unique bookmarks with materials such as coloured paper and stickers. These bookmarks are not only beautiful and generous, but also full of creativity and cultural connotations, adding a fun and meaning to reading.
Through these activities, teachers and students experienced the fun and benefits of reading, and inspired their desire for knowledge and love of literature. Lucton School Chongqing will continue to build a campus atmosphere that encourages reading, so that every Lucton student can find his or her own direction in the sea of books and embark on the wonderful journey of life.
