On December 8, Forward 2022 “From Education to Employment” held by British Council was successfully concluded. Ms. Ann Pan, Executive Governor of Lucton School Chongqing, was invited to attend this conference.

The conference focused on “From Education to Employment”, discussing the opportunities and challenges of cultivating international talents with a global perspective and proficiency in foreign languages, as well as how to empower the young generation to develop a comprehensive ecosystem from education to employment in the new era. Ms. Ann Pan shared with the guests the efforts and innovations made by Lucton School Chongqing to improve the teaching quality and students' overall ability in the round-table session on the theme of “How international education can empower the young generation to have a wonderful life in the post-epidemic era”.

• Holistic Education, empowering students to thrive as independent individuals.
In September 2018, Lucton School Shanghai, the first overseas campus of Lucton UK was officially opened. Students of Lucton School Shanghai have delivered outstanding results and have received batch of offers from top universities. 100% of the Class of 2021 went to the top 100 universities in the world and 88% of the Class of 2022 went to the top 50 universities in the world. This success is the result of Lucton’s insistence on holistic education and the philosophy of celebrating the unique talents of every individual.
With this philosophy in mind, in September 2022, Lucton School Chongqing, the second overseas campus of Lucton was opened. We provide students with as many opportunities as possible to thrive as individuals and support students to develop in every aspect, whether academic, athletic, artistic, emotional, spiritual, or qualitative. We offer students a wide choice of IGCSE and A-Level courses and hope that through the abundant curriculum, students can explore their learning interests, discover their strengths and truly understand their future direction to find the right path for them.

• Boarding, blending the excellent schooling and the positive family atmosphere.
Boarding education has a long history in independent schools in the UK. The boarding schools combine excellence in schooling with a positive family atmosphere to create an educational environment that promotes the development of the students. At Lucton, boarding education is as important as academic education, and the combination of pastoral care and academic makes for a complete holistic education. The full boarding requires students to be at school 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means that all students have access to the school’s facilities at all times and have plenty of time for extra-curricular activities. Saturday walking trips, sports, mountain biking, go-karting, Japanese language learning, PPT classes, Keith Harin graffiti impersonations and etc., students gain skills and fun from their boarding life. The students coherently immersed in the school atmosphere. The supported environment will help them to develop in academic, arts, sports and etc.

• An immersive English environment, tailored classes to match the student's English level.
At Lucton, we create an English immersion environment for our students. Combined with intense English curriculum, students' language skills will greatly improved in a short period. At Lucton School Chongqing, we adopt Aptis for Teens, which is an international English test as the admissions English assessment. Thanks to the Aptis test, all of our students have a corresponding English score on the CEFR at the time of entry. Each student has an English language profile, which is created at the beginning of the academic year and will be updated after every examination to ensure that the teachers have access to the most up-to-date data and to keep track of results. We also offer a varied English programme, including ESL, Global Perspectives, Public Speaking, subject English support, academic writing, English reading and IELTS tutoring. Each week students attend over 10 hours of English lessons, through which they can improve their overall skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Our English Department also works closely with subject teachers to help students learn subject-specific terminology. The English immersion environment at Lucton is also reflected in the boarding life. A lot of activities are offered such as debates, spelling contests, group reading activities, creative writing competitions, vocabulary competitions, weekly assembly English speaking time, and sharing time at Tutor Time each morning.

Lucton School Chongqing works closely with the British Council. We adopt Aptis as the admissions test and is also a member of British Council Partner Schools. As Ms Ann Pan mentioned during the round-table discussion, Aptis is an innovation global English assessment tool developed by the British Council, it quickly and accurately detects English proficiency, conforms to the international assessment system, and adopts a dual-scoring report system. Parents highly recognised Aptis and fully trust the British Council's accumulated experience in English language learning and assessment, and believe in the fairness and authority of the test. At the same time, as a member of the British Council Partner Schools, teachers and students at Lucton Chongqing can join this global network of school communities and enjoy professional academic support, leadership training, headmaster conference and other activities provided by the British Council and other members of the Partner Schools.
