They're the the centre of Lucton's Chinese class. Today we will take a peek into her classroom to find out what the students have been doing recently and see some of the work that they have produced.
Students in Ms. Lin's classes have been working on projects of Narrative Writing recently. They started the project by reviewing their prior knowledge, and participated in the learning path designed by Ms. Lin by analysing the model text, expanding the essay, comparing and contrasting the reading, collaborating on a writing outline, class discussion, and research, etc. By the end of the project, they made presentations in the form of collaborative group and completed their narrative writing independently.
In the beginning, Year 11 students in summarised their writing technique of four styles of IGCSE Chinese writing in group work, and presented in class. The fire burns high when everybody adds wood to it. Group cooperation not only makes individual learning experience more valuable, but also enriches the whole class learning achievements. In addition, Year 11's learning outcome have also been recognised by Year 10 students. They said that these experiences and techniques summarised by Year 11 students are very helpful to their writing and deserve to be their learning model.
In the end, Year 11 students made the PPTs of "How to write a great narrative article in IGCSE Exam" in the form of group cooperation and made presentations in class. They were inspired by the other groups' work and learned diversified skills from each other. The PPTs they collectively created were very valuable, well-designed, gave many details, and the selected materials were of great team characteristics. Each group presented their presentation with a unique perspective and showed their special style in class confidently and fluently, which impressed Ms. Lin deeply.
