About Hippo English Assessment
Hippo English Assessment was founded in 2012 and is organised by the Global Hippo Association. The Hippo English Assessment aims to inspire young people to improve their English skills and to build bridges of communication. The Hippo's robust body is a symbol of strength. Although it is a gentle herbivore, it can be extremely resolute and tenacious when facing the challenges of nature. This is what the Hippo English Assessment was created for: to inspire young people around the world to push themselves and explore their unlimited potential in learning English!
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an internationally recognised standard for describing language competence and proficiency, and it can be benchmarked with major language measurement systems.
The Hippo English assessment is based on CEFR and is administered by the Gatehouse Awards, which is recognised by Ofqual, the Office of Qualification and Examinations Regulation. The questions are based on life scenarios and include some general cross-cultural knowledge, guiding students back to the essence of language learning- the ability to use the language in a comprehensive way. Therefore, the Hippo English Assessment, which measures overall English language ability in terms of language use, scenario-based understanding and creative thinking, is a good indicator of students' overall English proficiency.
As university applications are getting increasingly competitive, the individual competitiveness of students is particularly important. Participating in international competitions and achieving excellent results are powerful evidence of a student's academic level and overall quality. Lucton School Chongqing encourages students to participate in international competitions to stimulate their interest and intrinsic motivation and to improve their comprehensive strengths.
