Mr. Wang teaches Pre-IGCSE Maths, IGCSE Maths and Additional Maths to students respectively. He is also the National Expert Committee for MK Competition. As the outstanding competition coach, he has years of experience in teaching A-Level maths as well. Now, let’s follow Mr. Wang to discover the miracles where you least expect it.

Students in Mr. Wang’s class have shown great potential in learning maths. You will find there are a number of students who are found to be in the place of high proficiency in their learning and demonstrate high growth in terms of their progress. Mr. Wang thought how educators can use the style of pedagogy to support adolescent learning.

“One of the students was really shy, and this student felt maths was so hard. After talking with this student, I found that he/she had a gap without learning maths and needed more time. Thereafter, I hold the strong belief that teachers should help students believe “I can do this.” ‘ Teaching to students’ strengths helps them become more confident in their abilities and empowers them to perform better. Now, this student caught up most of the contents and could complete classroom tasks with high quality.”

“One of the students was a really good communicator. When the first lesson finished, this student came to me and told me that, “Mr. Wang, please don’t ask me to answer the questions? I might be slow to catch up but I would try my best to absorb the knowledge points, if I have questions, please help me.” Since then, I figure out this student was an auditory leaner, so when I posted the question, I would check with his/her eye-contact whether he/she wanted to answer or not.”

“For those students in additional maths class, I have to think how to make these geniuses feel maths is interesting because these students are more likely to be versatile - visual, auditory, read-write and kinesthetic. So, I tried to assign the mixed tasks for them - discussion, presentation, and peer teaching, resources sharing, etc.”

“One of the students who impressed me most is his/her self-discipline and time management even skipped a grade at such a young age. This student is “humble”, but I would rather say he/she is lack of confidence in a way after talking with her. I shared with this student that successful people maintain good habits that go hand in hand with success in every area of endeavor. Now, this student had his/her time of life.”

Hardwork and preparation will pay off. Under the lead of Mr. Wang, students of Lucton School Chongqing have been awarded Distinction and Credit in 2022 Australian Mathematics Competition.
