Anxiety can swoop in when you are challenged, under pressure, or have worries. On campus, a public speaking or an exam can be the source of anxiety, making your heart beat faster and your palms sweat.
To promote concern for “emotional health”, Lucton School Chongqing organised a Mental Health Awareness Week.
It is very common to feel anxious in many situations, but we should face our emotions directly to prevent all kinds of anxiety and worries from getting in our way.
A psychologist, Zhihong Wu, remarked that: “Our thoughts are like the Monkey King, who can travel thousands of miles in one somersault, while our bodies are like the Tang Monk, who must walk on the ground to reach the Western Paradise to get the scriptures.”
Instead of avoiding the things that cause anxiety, face them directly and change the way you look at things.
No matter how you feel now, please remember that you are not alone.
Safety is the top priority for Lucton School Chongqing. In order to create a good campus environment and raise the safety awareness of all students and teachers. This week, we invited the officer of the Chongqing Tieshanping Police Station to deliver a safety education lecture on legal knowledge, boarding safety, students' mental health and fraud prevention for all students and teachers.
The lecture talked about how students should maintain their mental health. Firstly, they should understand, accept and recognise themselves. Secondly, it is important to develop a positive attitude towards studies and life. Besides, students can seek help from teachers to overcome psychological barriers if they experience bad moods such as anger, depression, melancholy and boredom for a long time. The last way is building good interpersonal relationships, communicating with classmates and helping each other.
The healthy growth and personal safety of students is the concern of every family and every school. Lucton School Chongqing is also always attentive to the psychological well-being of students.
• Nonscheduled mental health activities are conducted to enhance students' ability to regulate and educate themselves.
• Students are guided to evaluate themselves scientifically and objectively in their studies and life, to build up self-confidence, to recognise their shortcomings and to accept themselves.
• The family is the base for education. Parents are encouraged to have frequent and helpful conversations with their children, to listen and encourage them, and to help them establish goals in life.
Every student deserves to be recognised, understood and respected. In the future, Lucton School Chongqing will continue to work hard for the healthy growth of students.
